Wolverines hang on to beat Titans

It came down to the final seconds, but the Waywayseecappo Wolverines will stay undefeated in exhibition after a 3-2 win over the Neepawa Titans.

Neepawa threw everything at the net in the final seconds, but couldn’t find a way to beat Tresor Wotton.

Wotton was perfect through the first two periods, before giving up goals to Cameron Trimble and Brayden Michalchuk in the third period.

The Wolverines started the scoring in the first with an unassisted goal by Beau Kennedy at 8:39.

The score stayed at 1-0 until Spencer Paplawski got one past the Titans goaltender, Gavin Renwick, with a nice deke in the second period.

Neepawa started the scoring in the third with a dribbling shot from Trimble that got by Wotton, but it was answered by the Wolverines later on after a tip-in by Kaedin Wolfe. Beau Kennedy assisted on the goal.

Michalchuk made it 3-2 late in the third, but that was as close as the Titans would get.

Wolverines improve to 2-0-0 through the preseason, while the Titans lose their first game played.

The two teams will play each other again on Wednesday at the Waywayseecappo Arena at 7:30pm.
