Wolverines get past Stamps

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are no stranger to one-goal games, and they had another, but this time came out on top when they beat the Swan Valley Stampeders 2-1.

The Wolverines were able to pepper the Stamps with 49 shots on net, but could only get two past Swan Valley goalie Elias Giaccari-Dimitriou.

The Wolverines didn’t start the scoring until more than halfway through the second period when Ryan Jossy was able to go in on a breakaway to get the first goal of the game.

The Wolverines added another when Ben Roulette scored on the powerplay with just 17 seconds left in the second period.

The Stampeders got one past Jase Wareham, who ended up making 23 saves in the contest, when Will Brown scored his second of the season.

But that’s as close as Swan Valley would get to tying the game, as the Wolverines defence and Wareham held the fort the rest of the way.

Wolverines were 1/3 on the powerplay in the game, and killed off both penalties.

The Wolverines next game will be Sunday when they take on the Winkler Flyers in Winkler at 3:00pm.
