Thomas named to Team Manitoba at NAHC

Waywayseecappo Wolverines forward Mikey Thomas has been named to Team Manitoba for the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship which will be taking place in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

The National Aboriginal Hockey Championship (NAHC) is an annual event that provides a forum for elite Indigenous hockey players throughout Canada.

Thomas will be one of the nine players in the MJHL that will be playing for Team Manitoba.

The 16-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba has played in 13 games so far for the Wolverines, getting two assists.

The Wolverines are well represented on the team, as the team’s first pick in the 2023 Draft, Hubert Clarke, was also named to the team. He has been playing for the Northern Alberta Xtreme Prep U18 team in the CSSHL this season, picking up 6 points in 7 games after starting the year with the Under-17 team.

Wolverines Director of Player Personnel Kevin Monkman has also been named as Team Manager.

The event will take place from May 6th to 12th.
