#TheNextWAYve | Keenan Skrupa

The Wolverines had their eyes set on a player they wanted to choose; however, they had to watch rounds four and five of the 2020 MJHL Draft go by before they could get their hands on him. Sure enough, as the Wolverines were back on the clock with pick 62, they got their guy, Keenan Skrupa.

Skrupa, who was watching the draft nervously with his parents Brad and Julie at home in Brandon, was equally as excited when he learned he would be joining the Wolverines organization. “When I saw my name pop up with Wayway, I was really excited. I couldn’t be more honoured to go to such a great organization.”

Skrupa, who describes himself as a “Heads up, high IQ, pass first, type of player,” has the numbers to back his description up. This season he played 35 games with the Brandon AAA Bantam Wheat Kings and racked up 45 points ( 13 goals, 32 assists).

Although Keenan might not be the biggest player on the ice, he can intimidate other players with how hard he plays the game. This trait can be traced back to his greatest hockey influence, Martin St. Louis. “I love how he plays, and he has always been my favourite player.” Skurpa will continue to look up to St. Louis as he sets out to fulfill his goal of making the Brandon AAA U18 team next season

The Wolverines would like to welcome Keenan and his family into our organization.
