Wolverines win seven straight

No one is stopping the Waywayseecappo Wolverines train right now, as the the team got its seventh straight win, beating the Neepawa Titans 4-2.

The Wolverines moved three points up on Neepawa after the regulation win for the fourth and final playoff spot in the West Division.

Sean Williams led the way for the Wolverines, scoring two goals, while Kaiden Kirkwood returned from injury and stopped 27 shots in the game.

Williams scored the first goal just 4:29 into the game when he was able to beat Titans goalie KC Couckuyt on a breakaway.

The Titans tied it up ten minutes later when Kyle Weisgarber scored with a goal that trickled by Kirkwood.

In the second period, the Wolverines took the lead when Williams was able to take advantage of a crazy bounce of the boards from a Jack Clarke shot and made it 2-1.

In the third period, Neo Kiemeney gave the Wolverines a powerplay goal, getting his 13th of the seaosn to give the Wolverines some insurance.

Sam McPeak later scored in an empty net to make it 4-1, and the Titans scored with ten seconds left as Cooper Kasprick scored his 13th of the year, to make it a final, 4-2.

The Wolverines have won seven games for the first time since 2011, when they ended up winning eight games in a row that year.

The Wolverines next game will be against the league leading Steinbach Pistons on Thursday night at home, starting at 7:30PM.
