Wolverines take on Titans

The Neepawa Titans will head to Waywayseecappo for a rare Tuesday night, one-off game against the Wolverines.

The two West Division rivals will play their 5th game against each other, with the Wolverines leading the season series with a 3-0-1 record so far.

But the last time the teams faced off, was back in November, and both teams have changed a bit since then.

For the Titans, they added Tristan Thompson from Selkirk near the trade deadline. The Wolverines added goalie Brett Mirwald, defencemen Eric Krywy, and forwards Joey Moffatt and Max Mazur.

The Wolverines have won five games in a row since their loss to Steinbach to start the 2022 portion of their schedule. They have won 8 of their last 9 games.

The Neepawa Titans have avoided going on any streak it seems for the past two months. Since losing two games to Steinbach at the end of November, the Titans have split every weekend series against every team they have faced. That includes 2-2 against Swan Valley over the past two weekends.

The Titans are sitting in a playoff spot right now, 4th in the West. They are four points back on Swan Valley for third, and have a one point lead over Virden for 4th.

The Wolverines are on the other side of the spectrum, sitting in first in the West for the first time since October after getting ahead of Dauphin on Sunday.

The two teams both have a Top 4 powerplay unit, but both falter on the penalty kill, in the bottom 4 as well.

The next time these teams will face off will be to finish off the season in March, which will have both teams fighting for their positioning right before the playoffs.
