The Waywayseecappo Wolverines put a dent in the Neepawa Titans playoff hopes after a big 6-4 win at the Yellowhead Centre.
In a playoff-like atmosphere, the Wolverines were able to come from behind, fight back and get the win and finish it off with a dominating third period.
In the first period, the only goal was scored by Luke Robson that was tipped in from a point shot. The assists came from Boone Mathison and Aiden Ziprick.
But in the second period, the floodgates opened.
The Titans scored first as Jaegar Lapointe was able to beat Liam Tereposky five-hole to tie it up a one.
But not even a minute later, when the Wolverines were shorthanded, Colby Wotton banged in a rebound after a Jacob Charko shot on a breakaway, for the Wolverines to jump out in front.
But Neepawa tied it up again, when Cody Gudnason wasable to get a goal from a bad angle.
The Titans took their first lead of the game when a defensive break down left Dallon Wilton by himself to put it over the glove of Tereposky.
But only 24 seconds later, it was Max Mazur that shot over the glove of Gavin Renwick to tie it up once more.
All five goals were scored in the first half of the period.
In the third period, the Wolverines got hot , as Boston Bird scored on a scramble in front to make it 4-3 and take the lead.
With Neepawa on the attack, and fighting for their playoff lives, the Wolverines were able to get up by two after Colby Wotton got his second of the game off a tip-in from a Reagan Rabbit shot.
One minute later, Kolton Shindle took away the puck and went in all alone to make it 6-3.
Neepawa benefitted from a Liam Tereposky turnover and Brayden Michalchuk scored on a wide open net to make it 6-4.
But that’s as close as they would get, as the Wolverines got the win.
Liam Tereposky stopped 35 of 39 shots for the win, while Gavin Renwick made 29 saves in the loss.
The two teams play again tomorrow night in both team’s regular season finale at the Waywayseecappo Arena at 7:30pm.
