Wolverines shutout by Flyers

A couple days after the Wolverines put nine in the back of the net, it came back around as the Winkler Flyers defeated the Wolverines 9-0.

Malachi Klassen got the shutout for the Flyers, and three Winkler players got multi-goal games.

The Wolverines didn’t get off to a good start when Mike Svenson scored a powerplay goal 6:16 into the game. After the goal, Wolverines’ Guerin Apperley took a two minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, and the Flyers were back on the powerplay.

On the ensuing power play, Trent Penner scored to make it 2-0. Apperley took a misconduct penalty after the goal, but the Flyers did not get a powerplay out of it.

But it didn’t matter as Brady Craik scored at 10:59 of the first period to make it 3-0 after the first period.

It took until about halfway through the second period, for the Flyers to score again, but it was Jacob Sargent with a shot from the point that made its way through.

Five minutes later, Brody Beauchemin scored it make it 5-0.

Very early in third period, Mike Svenson scored on his own rebound off a breakaway to make it 6-0.

A powerplay goal later on by Trent Penner made it 7-0 and chased Marek Andres from the net.

Then on one of the first shots on Jase Wareham, the Flyers scored again from Jacob Sargent to make it 8-0.

Mick Mckee scored to make it nine at 15:38.

The Wolverines next game will be on Tuesday for the School Game at 12:30pm against the Swan Valley Stampeders.
