Wolverines reveal 25th Year logos

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are set to play in their 25th season, after being founded in 1999.

In honour of the celebratory season, the Wolverines have unveiled two logos to celebrate the 25 years in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

The first logo has the number 25 with indigenous art inside of the number. It is also placed inside the traditional medicine wheel that has become part of the Wolverines secondary logo for the past five seasons. The medicine wheel represents the alignment and continuous interaction of the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual realities.

Inside of the circle is orange to represent the colours of the Every Child Matters movement and Orange Shirt Day, which has been called National Truth and Reconciliation Day for the past three years, which the Wolverines have played on and will continue to play on. The logo also shows a strain of sweetgrass that encompasses the logo and falls below the number 25.

The first logo will be on merchandise that will be sold over the next season, and will also be used on official game pucks. It will also be put on the team’s jerseys this season.

The second logo is taken from the first one, but is coloured in the Wolverines signature yellow that has been used for the past five seasons. That logo will only be used on the ice in each offensive zone, where the main Wolverines logo has been in the past.

More announcements will be made over the next month in anticipation for the start of the new season, which starts on September 22nd.
