Wotton stops 45 for shutout win over Stamps

One goal was all that it took for the Waywayseecappo Wolverines to get a two points over the Swan Valley Stampeders.

Tresor Wotton stopped all 45 shots he got to get the Wolverines a win in the first of a back to back.

The only goal of the game was scored by Guerin Apperley in the first period, who fired one through a crowd that went crossbar down and made it 1-0 for the Wolverines.

In the second period there was no scoring, but in the final minute, Nolan Grier was given a major penalty and game misconduct that gave the Stampeders a lengthy powerplay into the third period.

The penalty was killed off though, with some big saves by Tresor Wotton and as well as a penalty was given to Swan Valley during it.

The Stampeders pressed hard in the third and even had a 6-on-3 near the end of the game after a couple of Wolverine penalties. But at the end, the Wolverines picked up the victory.

On the other end of the ice, Kobe Grant stopped 26 of 27 shots in the game in the loss.

Both team’s special teams were scoreless as well, with both teams getting plenty of chances with the man advantage.

The two teams will play again on Sunday in Waywayseecappo to finish off the back to back.
