Wolverines to honour Addison Mitchell on February 3rd

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines will be wearing a teal uniform on Saturday February 3rd against the Niverville Nighthawks as the team honours the family and legacy of Addison Mitchell.

Addison passed away at the age of nine years old in September after a long fight with cancer.

A few days before her passing,  she and her family stopped by the Wolverines facilities, meeting the team and staff. She was gifted a jersey and later told her parents “That was so cool!”

After her passing, the players chose to honour Addison by wearing her initials on their helmets for the rest of the season.

The game on February 3rd will have the Wolverines wear teal jerseys, one of Addison’s favourite colours. The game will feature a ceremonial puck drop before the game with the Mitchell family.

The jerseys will be auctioned during the week leading up to the game, with 50% of proceeds being donated to the Cancer Care Manitoba and the other 50% of the proceeds going to Expanding Cancer Care Centre (ECCC) in Russell.
There will also be an ECCC table set up at the game to share information about the new facility being built in Russell.
The game will start at 7:30pm.
