Wolverines take on Oil Capitals in Season Opener

For the first time since late 2020, MJHL hockey is back.

After the 2020-21 season was cut short, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines and Virden Oil Capitals will face off to start the 2021-22 MJHL season.

The two teams will start the season with four straight games against each other, with two games in Virden and two games in Waywayseecappo over the course of two weekends.

The season will start on Friday, September 17th in Virden at 7:30pm. The two will finish the weekend on Saturday, September 18th in Waywayseecappo at 7:30pm as well for the Wolverines Home Opener.

In the shortened 2020 season, both teams performed very well. The Wolverines finished with a 7-3-0 record, good for 14 points which was top of the West Division.

Virden had a nearly flawless short season with a 8-0-1 record for 17 points and first in the Interior Division.

In the pre-season, Waywayseecappo finished with a 3-1-1 record, with Virden finishing with a 3-0-1 stat line.

This will be the first of eight games between the two over the course of the season.
