Wolverines snap losing streak with win against Freeze

It was dicey halfway through the game, but the Wolverines put together a solid third period to propel themselves to a 6-3 victory over the Winnipeg Freeze.

A game that went back and forth throughout the night, led to the Wolverines scoring four unanswered to end the game.

The Wolverines started the scoring very early into the game when Ben Roulette scored just 21 seconds into the game.

The Freeze tied it up though when Elliot Perrault was able to deke around Wolverines goaltender Jase Wareham and get his 5th of the season.

Winnipeg put themselves on top before the end of the period when Peyton Allard scored his first of the season going five hole on Wareham.

In the second, Thomas Kaufield scored the tying goal just 4:03 into the period.

But the Freeze got back in front just two minutes and a half later when Ashton Cuvelier was able to bat it in.

But halfway through the period, the Freeze gave away the puck and it went right to the stick of Sean Williams where he was able to tie it up, scoring his ninth of the season.

Later on, Jack Clarke scored on a 2-on-0 with Ben Roulette to give the Wolverines the lead back , getting his 10th of the season.

In the third period, there was some tense moments with Winnipeg only one goal back, but Luke McCarthy put that thought away when he sniped a goal past Nicolas Rempel to make it 5-3.

Ben Roulette later made it 6-3 with an empty netter.

The Wolverines snapped a three game losing streak with a win, improving to 9-10-0-1, and getting a six point lead for 4th place in the West Division.

Jase Wareham stopped 22 shots for the win, meanwhile Rempel stopped 45 shots in the loss.

Both team’s powerplays couldn’t get anything going, going 0/7 for the Freeze and 0/4 for the Wolverines.

Waywayseecappo’s next game will be in Virden on Thursday when they take on the Oil Capitals at 7:30pm.
