Wolverines Set to Meet Terriers in Portage

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines will take on the Portage Terriers on Saturday night for the first time in 2019.

Waywayseecappo is coming off of a disappointing 3-2 loss to the Virden Oil Capitals on Thursday night in a game that saw the Wolverines underperform to their potential. Despite the loss, Isaac LaBelle had a great start to the new year, stopping 35 of 38 shots sent his way.

In the previous matchup between the Wolverines and Terriers, it was the Terriers coming out on top 3-1 in Portage. Dylan Soosay gave the Wolverines an early 1-0 lead before Portage would go on to score three straight and hold on for the victory. Nathan Reay was outstanding in net for the Wolverines, stopping 43 of 46 shots.

Coming into tonight’s matchup, the Portage Terriers have yet to play in 2019 and went 8-2-0-0 in their last ten games before the break, outscoring their opponents 45-26 during that time.

News and Notes

The Wolverines will once again welcome a fresh face to the lineup with Ethan McColm (02) set to make his Wolverines debut on the back end. The young defenceman was acquired via trade with the Selkirk Steelers in a deal that saw Brady Pupp head the other way.
