Wolverines Schedule Announced

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League has released the entire’s league schedule for the 2024-25 season, which includes the entire Waywayseecappo Wolverines schedule.

Last week, it was announced that the Wolverines would start the season at home against the Niverville Nighthawks on Sunday, September 22nd at 6pm.

The Wolverines will start their season with three of four games on home ice during the month of September. They will also end the season with three of four games in Waywayseecappo. The final game of the year will be in Dauphin on March 15th.

Along with the schedule release, the Wolverines also announced some of the big games of the year.

For the fourth straight game, the Wolverines will be playing on National  Day of Truth and Reconciliation, this time against the Neepawa Titans at 6:00pm on Monday, September 30th. As in years past, the Wolverines will be wearing an orange jersey, and admission will be free.

The team will be hosting the Titans just over a week later, to play a game at 12:30pm on Tuesday for the annual School Game. It will be the third straight year for matinee.

After the success of last year’s game to honour Addison Mitchell and to raise funds for the The Expanding Community Cancer Care Centre, the Wolverines plan on playing the Dauphin Kings on October 15th for a Hockey Fights Cancer Night. The team will be wearing pink jerseys for the game.

The Wolverines will be bringing back the Teddy Bear Toss after the success of last year. The game will take place on Tuesday, December 3rd at 7:30pm against the Virden Oil Capitals. Bears will be tossed to the ice after the first Wolverine goal of the game.

The last game of 2024 will be on December 20th at home against the Niverville Nightahwks before the league takes a Christmas break.

The Wolverines return for the year 2025 when they head to Swan River on Friday, January 3rd. They play the Stampeders the next night on home ice to play the second annual Ribbon Skirt Game. Fans will be encouraged to wear ribbon clothing to the game.

At end of January and start of February, the Wolverines head out on a seven game road stand which includes weekends in the Eastern Division.

The Wolverines will be playing the Swan Valley Stampeders on Monday, February 17th at 4:00PM on Louis Riel Day. It will conclude a day of activities around Waywayseecappo. It will also be the second year in a row hosting a game on that day.

The last game at home this season will on Friday,  March 14th against the Winnipeg Blues at 7:30pm.
