Wolverines get much needed win to start week

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are in tough for the remainder of the regular season, but they helped themselves and also kept themselves alive with a 4-1 win over the Swan Valley Stampeders.

After a 10-2 win for the Neepawa Titans over the Winnipeg Blues, the Wolverines needed at least a point to survive past the night, and with the help of a two point night from Thomas Kaufield and Sean Williams, and 26 saves from Jase Wareham, the Wolverines got those two points.

After a scoreless first period, the Wolverines got goals from Luc Cernohous, Sam McPeak and a beauty from Sean Williams to put the game out of reach.

In the third period, it was just one more as Thomas Kaufield added one to get it to 4-0.

Swan Valley did end up ruining Jase Wareham’s shutout bid with a powerplay goal with 17 seconds left to make it 4-1.

The Wolverines outshot the Stamps 41-27 in the game and was 1/1 on the powerplay, and killed off just one of the penalties they took.

The Wolverines next game will be tomorrow night as they take on the Selkirk Steelers at home at 7:30pm.
