Wolverines get first shutout with win over Blues

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines were able to shut the door on an opponent for the first time this season with a dominating 7-0 win over the Winnipeg Blues.

The Wolverines made quick work of the Blues team, getting away from the drama that usually comes with a game at the Hockey for all Centre, and Kaiden Kirkwood stopped all 16 shots he faced in the game.

The Wolverines got off to a good start with Jack Clarke scoring on the powerplay, getting his 17th of the season.

They added another in the first frame when Garett Zasitko was able to put one into a wide open net after a nice pass from Kyle Bochek to make it 2-0.

The Wolverines scored one in the second period when Jackson Roth received a pass from Mikey Thomas, and was able to rifle one past Jeff Dreger to make it 3-0.

The Wolverines added four goals in the third with Jesiah Bennett with a solo effort getting one just under five minutes into the third.

Clarke and Williams both added their 18th of the season and Aiden Moser scored as well to make it a final 7-0 game.

The Wolverines were 2/4 on the powerplay in the game, and were able to kill off all four penalties they committed.

The team now sits four points back of Neepawa for a final playoff spot in the West Division.

The Wolverines will look to get a second straight win when they take on the Winnipeg Freeze on Tuesday on home ice, at 7:30pm.
