Wolverines get convincing win over Stamps

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines had one of their most convincing wins in Swan River in years, beating the Swan Valley Stampeders 6-2.

Luke McCarthy and Jack Clarke both had a goal and two assists, to help the Wolverines to their second win of the season.

Waywayseecappo got it started early on, scoring 4:45 into the game when Sean Williams, playing in his 100th game, received a nice pass from Thomas Kaufield and sniped it past Liam Vanderkooi to make it 1-0.

The Stampeders tied it later on in the period, when Josh Danis got his first of the year.

But just a minute and a half late, Jesiah Bennett was able to roof it to make it 2-1.

In the second period it was all Wolverines, outshooting the Stampeders 17-6.

Jack Clarke scored the first one 7:57 into the period, his second of the season for him.

Neo Kiemeney scored at the 13 minute mark, getting his third of the season, making it 4-1.

Just 14 seconds later, it was Aidan Herring scoring to make it 5-1.

After the goal, the Stampeders pulled Vanderkooi and replaced him with Elias Giaccarri-Dimitriou.

In the third period, Luke McCarthy scored his first Junior A goal to make it 6-1, just 1:04 into the period.

The Stampeders did get one back with 49 seconds left to go with Owen Warnick scoring his first Junior A goal.

In the win, Marek Andres stopped 27 shots.

The Wolverines were 1/5 on the powerplay and killed off all four of the Stampeders powerplays.

The Wolverines will next play the Virden Oil Capitals on Saturday for the annual Truth and Reconciliation Game at the Waywayseecappo Arena.
