Wolverines comeback to grab a point in shootout loss

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines came back in the third period to get a point in their game against the Virden Oil Capitals, but end up losing 4-3 in a shootout.

Trailing 3-1 heading into the final frame, Jack Clarke scored his 11th and 12th goals of the season to tie it up forcing the game into extra time.

The Wolverines got the scoring started in the game when Ben Roulette finished off a nice give and go with Aiden Moser to make it 1-0.

The Oil Capitals tied it up late in the period when Josh Lehto scored his league high 13th of the year with just over three minutes left in the period.

The Oil Caps scored twice in the second period when Trevor Hunt got one on the powerplay from the point to make it 2-1.

Roux Basin later made it 3-1 when he was able take advantage of a defencemen who fell and put it over the blocker of Caleb Allen.

Jack Clarke as mentioned, scored twice in the third period, including one on the powerplay, to tie the game late and secure a point for the Wolverines.

After nothing in overtime, the two teams went to a shootout where both teams combined for three goals, but the Oil Capitals skated away with a victory after goals by Josh Lehto and Nolan Chastko.

Allen stopped 33 shots in the loss, while Eric Reid stopped 21 in the win.

The Wolverines will take on the Oil Capitals next Friday in Waywayseecappo, but will first play the Dauphin Kings at home on Tuesday at 7:30pm.
