Uzelman Ready For Fresh Start With Wolverines

One of the newest members of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines was acquired over the weekend as part of a future considerations deal with the SIJHL’s Red Lake Miners.

Although Kyle Uzelman comes to the Wolverines with only one season of Junior A under his belt, it was a season to remember. Entering his 20-year-old campaign, Uzelman is fresh off a trip to the SIJHL’s league final where he scored five goals and three assists in seven games.

Now, getting a chance to end off his junior career with the Wolverines, the Sherwood Park, Alberta native is ready for his chance to make an impact in Waywayseecappo.

“I’m excited for a fresh start and opportunity to play in the MJHL for the Wolverines,” Uzelman said over the phone. “I think it’s going to be beneficial for me and hopefully have a good run this season.”

“I’m definitely excited to be a part of the Wayway Wolverines.I’m more offensively minded, but I take care of my part in the defensive zone too. I like to put the puck in the net and set up goals.”

As for Uzelman’s summer plans, he will continue to work on his game with a goal in mind.

“Well,  I’m working out right now, trying to add more muscle and gain some speed, I want to get faster. As for next year, I want to stay in Canada and play college or university closer to home,” Uzelman finished.

In 51 games last season with the Miners, Uzelman scored 20 goals and 32 assists.
