Steelers Blank Wolverines In First Of Back To Back

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines surrendered single goals in each period on Thursday night on their way to a 3-0 loss to the Selkirk Steelers.

A very tight first period ended with the Steelers leading 1-0 after the Wolverines took a late penalty. Jordan MacFarlane scored with six seconds remaining to give the Steelers the lead after the first twenty minutes of play.

It was more of the same in the second period. The Wolverines would manage to kill off a pair of minor penalties and head into the final five minutes of the frame down 1-0.

With 3:32 remaining in the period, Ryan Ostermann increased the Steelers lead to 2-0 when he beat Colin Ahern.

The Wolverines would head into the third period with a hole to dig themselves out of.

For most of the third, the Wolverines spent their time in the Steelers zone and would continue to press down to the wire.

Just like they did in the first two periods, Selkirk found the back of the net late in the third when Sheldin Howard put the nail in the coffin to take a 3-0 victory over the Wolverines.

Now 22-17-3-2 on the season, it will be a short turnaround for both clubs as they’ll meet on Friday night once again in Waywayseecappo.
