Kings give Wolverines first loss on home ice

The Dauphin Kings took both games over the weekend, including Saturday’s game 6-2 over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

The Kings got off to a hot start and never let up to give the Wolverines their first loss on home ice this season.

Nick Braun got his fifth of the season when he beat Tresor Wotton five hole to make it 1-0.

The Kings got a powerplay goal later on in the first when Jayden Jubenville took a slap shot from the point to make it 2-0.

Then near the end of the period, Brayden Dube got his ninth of the season after a Wolverines miscommunication that left him with a wide open net to make it 3-0 after 20 minutes.

The Kings continued their dominance with three more goals in the second along with two more powerplay goals. Matthew Rathbone started the scoring, with Kaden Bryant scoring two powerplay goals within 1:40 of each other.

The Wolverines did get on the board with a goal by Troy Hamilton.

In the third, the Wolverines would add one more by Andrew Boucher for the game to end 6-2.

The Kings jump over the Wolverines for top spot in the West Division and sit on top with 22 points.

The two teams will play once again on Friday and Saturday, in Waywayseecappo and then Dauphin respectively.
