Game gets away from Wolverines in loss

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines let one minute get away from them to drop 5-3 to the Dauphin Kings on Friday night in Dauphin.

After going into the third period tied up at 2, the Kings scored three goals in 57 seconds and took a 5-2 lead that ended up being what they needed for the win.

Dauphin started the scoring just 4:17 into the game when Aidan Brook went five-hole on Caleb Allen on the powerplay.

The Wolverines tied it up at one when Luke McCarthy was able to tip it past Cole Sheffield off a Thomas Kaufield pass.\

The Kings jumped back out in front just under a minute later when Trey Gnetz scored.

Garett Zasitko scored a couple minutes later to tie it up with a rebound goal off a shot by Ben Roulette.

After no scoring in the second period, the Kings exploded with goals by Logan Walker, Carter Zalischuk and Alex Senf in 57 seconds.

The Wolverines could only get a goal back near the end of the game when Neo Kiemeney scored on the powerplay.

The Kings outshot the Wolverines 22-7 in the final frame.

The Wolverines dropped their second straight game, and third straight to the Kings this season.

The silver lining for Waywayseecappo was killing off 6 of 7 Dauphin powerplays in the game, and getting a powerplay goal of their own.

The Wolverines next game will be on Sunday against the Portage Terriers on home ice.
