Colin Ahern Commits To University of Wisconsin Eau Claire

Waywayseecappo Wolverines graduating Goaltender, Colin Ahern has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Blugolds.

Acquired just prior to the trade deadline from the AJHL, Ahern started in 19 straight games for the Wolverines and was a large part of the teams run into the playoffs.

Now that Ahern has come to a decision on where he will attend school and play hockey, the Fond du Lac, Wisconsin native can take a breath and enjoy the choice he’s made.

“Really happy and excited to start a new chapter,” Ahern shared. “Eau Claire is a really good program and school with a lot of success. It’s a great school and culture that really suits me well academically and as a hockey player.”

In his 19 regular-season games with the Wolverines, Ahern put together an impressive 11-6-0-0 record, 2.72 goals-against average, .905 save percentage and two shutouts.

Like most other graduates of the Wolverines program say, it’s the community and fans he will never forget.

“My time in Wayway was great. So happy I got to get to know everyone involved, especially the community and fans. They do such a great job making you feel welcomed.”

As for his plans for school this fall, Ahern is just excited for the opportunity and can’t wait to get to campus which happens to be just over three hours away from where he calls home in Fond du Lac.

“I’m looking at the business school. I just can’t wait to get started and be a part of a new team and environment,” Ahern concluded.
