Boucher Looking Forward To The Opportunity In Waywayseecappo

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are excited to announce that the hockey club has signed prospect Andrew Boucher to a letter of intent for the 2020-2021 season.

Boucher, 17, was originally selected by the Wolverines in the fourth round of the 2017 MJHL Draft. He spent the 2019-2020 campaign with the Pembina Valley Hawks of the Manitoba AAA U-18 league. In 40 games during the 2019-2020 season, Boucher recorded 50 points (20 goals, 30 assists). The 6’1, 170 pound forward continued his success into his teams abbreviated playoff run. In 6 playoff games, Boucher racked up 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists), which ranked him second in league playoff scoring. Boucher was quick to credit his linemates for his postseason success “Our line was clicking; it was a lot of fun.”

Although Boucher grew up in Morden Manitoba, he is quite familiar with the Wolverines organization. He has a lot of cousins within the area and, his grandfather Wilf has been a long time supporter of the Wolverines. “Whenever we would come out to Binscarth over Christmas, he would take me to a couple of games… I still have an old Wolverines shirt my grandma gave me.”

Boucher feels he plays a similar style to the player he grew up idolizing, Jonathon Toews. “He’s a 200-foot centreman, just like I am. I always want to take care of my defensive end first, before the offence.”

Despite the disappointing end to this hockey season, Boucher is excited about the opportunity to wear black and gold next season. “I’m super excited. Having family there and everything, I’m really excited for the opportunity there. It’s going to be good.”
