The Waywayseecappo Wolverines win streak, point streak and opportunity to clinch a playoff spot all fell to the wayside on Tuesday night as they lost once again at the Roy H. Johnston Arena, losing 2-1 to the Northern Manitoba Blizzard.
For the third time this season, the Wolverines failed to score more than two goals in The Pas, as a third period lead vanished in regulation.
The game was scoreless after the first period, with the Wolverines having the advantage in shots 9-6.
In the second period, the scoring finally got started as Dylan Duzan was fed a nice pass from Treycen Wuttunee to get his 13th of the season.
But the Blizzard tied it up in the third period as Isaac Tomchak scored on a rebound goal in the third period.
Late in the period, after a Ben Roulette slashing penalty with 3:39 left in the game, the Blizzard scored on the powerplay after a puck bounced off the end boards and made its way to the slot for Justin Whitrow to score the go ahead goal.
The Wolverines pressed hard at the end, but couldn’t beat Keagin Kelln, who made 32 saves in the game.
The Wolverines will get another chance to clinch on Wednesday as they head down to Swan Valley to take on the Stampeders. A point or win will get them a berth into the 2026 MJHL Playoffs. That game starts at 7:00pm.
