Down 3–0 midway through the third period, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines scored five goals in a span of just 6:13 to stun the Swan Valley Stampeders 5–3 on Friday night at the Swan River Centennial Arena.
Swan Valley took a 1–0 lead into the first intermission and made it 2–0 in the second. Dayson Martin added a third Stampeders goal at 10:24 of the final period.
Then the game turned quickly. Blake Farthing got the Wolverines on the board at 13:02, and Max Collyer scored at 15:15 to make it 3–2. Carter Haney tied the game at 16:35. Just 33 seconds later, Ian Buors put Waywayseecappo ahead.
That was four goals in 4:06 to turn a three-goal deficit into a one-goal lead. Buors completed the five-goal surge with an empty-netter at 19:15.
Waywayseecappo outshot Swan Valley 20–9 in the third period. Urijah Moosetail made 35 saves for the win, while Buors scored twice and Collyer had a goal and an assist. Treycen Wuttunee and Tavon McCorrister each picked up two assists.
The Wolverines have won three straight and will return to Swan River for a rematch on Tuesday, October 6th, at 7:00 p.m.
