Wolverines win Thanksgiving Thriller

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines left Swan River with a high-scoring 8-6 victory over the Swan Valley Stampeders.

The two teams scored a combined 14 goals during the game, including 8 goals in the third period.

The shots on goal was also a high number with the Wolverines outshooting Swan Valley 57-34. Both teams starting goalies stayed in net for the whole game, with the Wolverines Liam Tereposky stopping 28 of 34, while Kobe Grant stopped 49 of 57.

The game got off to a crazy start with both teams scoring two goals in the first twenty minutes. Troy Hamilton and Boston Bird scored for the Wolverines, while Cody Barnes and Jamie Valentino had the goals for the Stampeders.

In the second, Luke Robson put the Wolverines in front, but was quickly answered by the Stampeders Cody Barnes.

In the third period, the game got wild.

The Wolverines got the early goal by Mi-Kwan Tallman to put them up in front. But it was answered very quickly by two Stampeders goals by Jamie Valentino and Myles Mason.

Wasn’t much later that Waywayseecappo tied it up with a goal by Luke Robson.

The Wolverines got back in front with a goal by Lonan Bulger that beat Kobe Grant. But once again the Stampeders tied it up shortly after with a hat trick goal by Cody Barnes.

After some rough stuff halfway through the period left the Wolverines on a five-on-three powerplay, Troy Hamilton buried which would turn out to be the game winner to make it 7-6. Kobe Campbell added another goal to make it the final 8-6.

The Wolverines ended up scoring 4 powerplay goals in the game, while the Stampeders had one.

With the win, the Wolverines sit on top of the West Division with 12 points. Meanwhile the Stampeders sit at 3-5-0 on the season with 6 points.

Waywayseecappo will now head to OCN on Friday October 15th to play the Blizzard and to start a four-game series with them.
