Wolverines win matinee

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines found their scoring touch with a 6-2 win over the Neepawa Titans on Tuesday afternoon.

Cole Carlson had a goal and an assist, and Lochlan Gordan stopped 24 shots in his debut to lead the Wolverines to a win.

The game started off with a bang, as there was three goals scored within a minute’s time.

The Titans scored first when Hayden stocks was able to get a takeaway in front of the net and fire it over the glove of Gordon.

But only 13 seconds later, Cody Blight was able to deke around Neepawa’s goaltender, Gavin Renwick, to tie it up.

Then 37 seconds later, it was Boone Mathison that was sprung on a breakaway after a nice pass from Andrew Boucher to make it 2-1.

The Wolverines added another when it was Colby Wotton with a nice shot to make it 3-1.

The only goal scored in the second period, was Parker Murn who scored on a powerplay to make it 3-2 before the third period.

But the Wolverines put the game away early, when they scored back to back goals with an Owen Wheatley powerplay goal and a Cole Carlson goal 22 seconds later.

Ben Roulette added his first MJHL Goal later in the period to make it 6-2.

The Wolverines were 1/5 on the powerplay, while Neepawa was 1/8.

Waywayseecappo moved up to second place with the win, with 12 points.

The Wolverines next game will be on Saturday when they take on the league leading Steinbach Pistons at 7:30pm.
