Wolverines win chippy affair to end preseason

A roller coaster preseason has ended for the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, and after back to back games giving up 10 goals, the Wolverines nearly shut the door for a 3-1 win over the Melville Millionaires.

Andrew Peterson started and ended the game for the Wolverines, stopping 24 of 25 shots on the game.

Bronson Seymour scored the only goal in the first period as the Wolverines got out to a 1-0 lead in the opening twenty minutes.

In the second period, the Wolverines extended their lead to two goals when Ryley Cyca scored on the powerrplay.

Melville made it a one goal game when Leo Jewitt scored on a 2-on-1.

But just three minutes later, Drew Peters made it a two goal game once again.

The third period, the Millionaires weren’t able to generate much chances, and the Wolverines hung on for the win.

The game was a chippy one as well, as the teams together amassed 114 penalty minutes, and there was two fights in the game.

The Wolverines end the preseason with a 2-5 record, and will start their regular season on September 22nd versus the Niverville Nighthawks.
