Wolverines win another OT game

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines have all of a sudden figured out overtime.

The Wolverines won their second straight OT game, this time over the Portage Terriers with a 3-2 win.

Carson Baptiste scored the game winner once again, just two days after beating the Winnipeg Freeze with his goal in overtime.

The game was back and forth, with the teams exchanging goals throughout the contest.

In the first period, it was Sean Williams who got the ice breaker when he was able to bury a rebound after the puck got put out in front.

It wasn’t until the second period, when the Terriers answered back though, when on the powerplay Bryden Kiesman was able to put it over Tresor Wotton.

But the Wolverines got back in front just over three minutes later, when Jack Clarke found the puck by his skate and was able to put it in a wide open net after a shot by Kurt Rookes.

The Terriers tied it up right before the end of the second period when Brendan Holba got a pass from behind the net from Ryan Botterill and put it in from the slot.

Throughout the third period, no one scored, even on a five minute powerplay that the Wolverines were awarded after a major boarding call from Brendan Holba.

But in overtime, 2:03 into it, Carson Baptiste picked up a pass from Lucas Eagle and went down the ice, got around a defender and slipped it fivehole through Bailey Monteith to win the game.

With the win, the Wolverines and Terriers finish their season series with identical 2-1-1 records against each other.

The Wolverines outshot the Terriers in the game 29-25.

Waywayseecappo will now play a back to back with the Niverville Nighthawks, starting on Friday night in Niverville.
