Wolverines Visit Stampeders for First of Two in Swan River

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines begin a two-game road set against the Swan Valley Stampeders tonight at the Swan River Centennial Arena.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The teams will play in Swan River for a rematch on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. These are the first two of six meetings between the MGEU West Division rivals this season.

Wolverines Coming Off Orange-Jersey Victory

The Wolverines extended their Truth and Reconciliation Game winning streak to six on Wednesday, scoring four unanswered first-period goals in a 4-1 victory over the Dauphin Kings.

After Dauphin opened the scoring, Blake Farthing tied the game before Liam Flett gave Waywayseecappo the lead. Isaac Catcheway and Cale Livingston then scored 35 seconds apart to give the Wolverines a three-goal advantage before the intermission.

Mariko Bercier stopped 21 of 22 shots, including all 16 he faced over the final two periods. Waywayseecappo outshot Dauphin 32-22 and killed off both Kings power plays.

It was the Wolverines’ second consecutive victory following their 4-2 road win over the Portage Terriers on September 27.

Stampeders Off to Strong Start

Swan Valley opened its season with three straight wins, sweeping the Northern Manitoba Blizzard before earning a 6-2 road victory over Dauphin.

The Stampeders’ perfect start ended Saturday with a 3-2 home loss to the Kings. Despite the setback, Swan Valley has outscored its opponents 17-9 through four games.

Dylan Ruff has led the Stampeders’ offensive start with four goals and 13 points. Trace Langan has five goals and nine points, while Ben Groome has contributed three goals and seven points.

Langan recorded a hat trick in Swan Valley’s 6-2 victory over Dauphin, while Ruff collected three assists. Joe Naccarato made 34 saves in the win.
