Wolverines Unveil Fresh Look Ahead of 20th Anniversary Season

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines unveiled their updated look on Tuesday afternoon when they introduced their new home and away jerseys prior to the clubs 20th anniversary season in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

According to Wolverines Head Coach and General Manager Taylor Harnett, it was a significant move for the hockey club, one which will begin a new era on Friday night in Steinbach when a new season kicks off against the Pistons.

“This is a huge year for the Wolverines,” Harnett shared. “It’s our 20th season and we felt as an organization it was important with a lot of the changes going on with our facility, bringing in new staff and players, we felt a new look was needed.”

“We feel that we have one of the nicest logos not only in the league but maybe in the country. We decided to keep that, it’s a fan favorite around here, a similar color scheme with a bit of a different look and get our name on the jerseys which is something we felt was important as well.”

Earlier this summer, the club also released their 20th-anniversary patch to celebrate two decades in the MJHL.

“Commemorating our 20th season with our shoulder patches, we felt it was a good touch. We had a lot of input from people regarding the design. It took more time than I thought it would, but after reaching out to several people we had a few local artists that gave us some ideas, some graphic artists from the University of Alberta we came up with a great logo. It’s a new look, it’s exciting and we feel it’s going to be one of the best looks in the league,” Harnett concluded.

The Wolverines kick off their 2018-19 MJHL regular season campaign on Friday night when they travel to Steinbach to square off with the defending league champion Pistons. The Wolverines return to Waywayseecappo for their home opener on Sunday, when the Selkirk Steelers pay a visit for a late afternoon game which gets underway at 4:00 pm.
