Wolverines try to sweep weekend trip, take on Blizzard

The first half of the back to back is over, and the Waywayseecappo Wolverines head to The Pas with two points.

One night after beating the Swan Valley Stampeders 5-0, the Wolverines look to make it three wins in a row when they take on the newly named Northern Manitoba Blizzard.

The Blizzard are also coming off a game, as they hosted the Steinbach Pistons, but ended up losing 4-0. They fell behind 4-0 after the first period, when the Pistons scored three goals in just three and a half minutes.

The Blizzard have had the Wolverines number in the past 12 games, with Northern Manitoba having a 11-1 record in the past two seasons. That includes the Wolverines not being able to win on the road in two full seasons.

Northern Manitoba has a couple of players in the Top 10 scorers in the MJHL so far, as Cheechoo Lathlin and Marlen Edwards both have 8 points in this young season.

Meanwhile the Wolverines have worked more as a committee getting points, and four rookies so far has started the season with a point per game pace.

The Blizzard started the season with a 4-0 record, but have lost the last two against Virden and Steinbach. The Wolverines have gone the opposite direction, starting 0-2, but then winning the last two this week.

The Wolverines will take on the Blizzard a couple more times this month, with them heading back to The Pas on October 25th and 26th. They will then host the Blizzard a couple more times before Christmas before ending the six game season series on January 7th.
