Wolverines trade for Wapass

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines have acquired forward Deegan Wapass from the Golden Rockets of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League for future considerations.

Wapass, a 19-year-old from Debden, Saskatchewan and a member of Big River First Nation put up 15 points in 27 points last season with the Rockets.

He has also played for the Nipawin Hawks of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and also suited up for Team Saskatchewan in the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship in 2023, getting three goals and two assists during the tournament, helping the team to a fourth place finish.

“I’m most excited to play in front of the fans in Wayway,” said Wapass.  “It means a lot to represent my people in a First Nation community.”

The first chance to see Wapass will be at Wolverines Training Camp, which starts August 29th at the Waywayseecappo Arena.
