Wolverines This Week: Team returns from Christmas Break

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines return back from their Christmas break with a two game point streak, getting three of a possible four points in those last two games.

The team sits six points back of Neepawa for the final West Division playoff spot, playing one more game than the Titans at this point in the season.

The Wolverines will play three games in six days before taking a full seven day break before returning to the ice on Wednesday January 17th.

Lets look at the slate of games:

OCN @ Waywayseecappo – January 4th 2024 7:30pm

The Wolverines take on the OCN Blizzard, which will be both team’s first games back since facing off on December 19th. That game featured a last minute comeback for the Wolverines, after scoring two goals in the final minutes, both from Jack Clarke. The Wolverines eventually ended up losing in the shootout.

The Blizzard will come into the game riding a seven game win streak.

The game will be played on National Ribbon Skirt Day, with all attendees that wear a ribbon skirt getting into the game for free.

Waywayseecappo @ WPG Blues – January 7th 6:00pm

The Wolverines head to the Hockey for All Centre for the final time of the season, this time to take on the Winnipeg Blues.

The Wolverines have played in three entertaining games at the rink, with a comeback win over the Blues, a shootout loss to the Freeze, and a 9-7 barn burner against the Freeze before the Christmas break.

The Blues are second last in the league with 16 points this season.

WPG Freeze @ Waywayseecappo – January 9th 7:30pm

The Wolverines and Freeze face off one last time this season, and weeks after a 9-7 win in Winnipeg before the Christmas break.

The Wolverines had to come back from 3-1 and 7-4 in the game to get the full two points.

The Freeze are last place in the league at the moment, with 15 points, but one of their wins was against the Wolverines.
