Wolverines This Week: End 2023 with big games against OCN

For this edition of Wolverines This Week, we will be looking at the remaining games for the Wolverines for the rest of 2023 as the 2023 portion of the season ends on December 19th.

The Wolverines have four games left in the year, two against East Division teams, and two more against the OCN Blizzard.

With a Neepawa win on Sunday against the Steinbach Pistons, the Wolverines find themselves nine points back of a playoff spot in the West Division. But now the Titans are getting close to the OCN Blizzard and Dauphin Kings in points as well, making it three teams the Wolverines will be trying to catch up too for the second half of the season.

Tuesday December 12th 2023 – Portage @ Waywayseecappo – 7:30PM

The Wolverines take on the Portage Terriers on Teddy Bear Toss night, so the first Wolverines goal will have a few bears being thrown onto the ice.

The two teams played just over a week before, when Portage beat the Wolverines 4-2.

The Terriers have been moving up the standings recently, three points back of the Steinbach Pistons for first in the East Division.

Friday December 15th 2023 – Waywayseecappo @ OCN – 7:00PM

An important game for the Wolverines, as they play a divisional opponent. The last time the Wolverines won against a West Division counterpart was on October 28th when they beat the Neepawa Titans.

This will be the first time they will be heading to The Pas to play the Blizzard this season. The Blizzard are 7-5-0-2 on home ice, but have beat some good teams on home ice this season to make them a scary opponent on the road.

They are also 2nd in the West right now, one point up on the Dauphin Kings and three up on Neepawa.

Sunday December 17th 2023 – Waywayseecappo @ Freeze – 7:30PM

The Wolverines head back to the Hockey for All Centre for the third time this year. The last time they went there, they lost to the Winnipeg Freeze in a shootout, the same team they will be playing on Sunday night.

The Freeze have looked better this year, going 6-19-1-0 on the season, and were ahead of their city rivals, the Blues, for a few weeks before getting jumped this past week to fall back into last place in the MJHL.

Tuesday December 19th 2023 – OCN @ Waywayseecappo – 7:30PM

The Wolverines finish off the 2023 portion of the season with their third game against the Blizzard of the season on what will be a festive evening.

The last time the two teams played in Waywayseecappo, the Blizzard won 3-2 with a last minute goal to take the full two points.
