The Waywayseecappo Wolverines will be looking at the this upcoming week as a chance to get back into the thick of things in the West Division playoff race.
Down five points back of the Titans for the fourth and final playoff spot, the Wolverines have a chance to take advantage of some four-point games, heading to Neepawa twice in the next four days.
Tuesday December 5th 2023 – Waywayseecappo @ Neepawa – 7:30pm
The Wolverines start their weekly schedule with a Tuesday road game in Neepawa at the Yellowhead Centre. The Wolverines have beat the Titans in all three games this year between the two, but they have not played the Titans since the team has gone 7-2 since November 12th, beating the likes of Niverville twice, Portage once and Virden once. Behind that turn around has been the welcome return of Hayden Stocks, who has scored 10 goals in 12 games since returning.
Wednesday December 6th 2023 – Winkler @ Waywayseecappo – 7:30pm
The next night, the Wolverines host the #6 Winkler Flyers for the first time this season. The last time the two teams played, the Flyers beat the Wolverines 9-0. Since that game, the Wolverines have had a 6-9-2 record. Winkler was in the midst of an historic start when that game was played, continuing to start the season with a 9-0 record. The Flyers have dropped five game since the start, and are now third in the East Division, but are last in games played in the league, with 22. The Flyers are ranked 6th in the CJHL Top 20.
Friday December 8th 2023 – Waywayseecappo @ Neepawa – 7:30pm
After a day off, the Wolverines will be back on the road, as they head to Neepawa once again. It will be the last time the two teams meet until February, and it will be the last time the Wolverines play in Neepawa this season.
One win for the Wolverines over the Titans over the course of the week, will give the Wolverines the advantage in a head-to-head tiebreaker if the two teams end up tied at the end of the season.
