The Waywayseecappo Wolverines will be taking on the hottest team in the MJHL in the Selkirk Steelers on Thursday night.
The Steelers are coming into the game on a nine game winning streak to start the season, and are #2 in the weekly CJHL Rankings. The team possesses the top 6 scorers in the league and the top goaltender as Noel Olsonawski has a 0.79 goals against average and a .967 save percentage.
They have knocked off the Winnipeg Blues four times, the Winnipeg Freeze twice and the Portage Terriers, Niverville Nighthawks and Virden Oil Capitals once each,
For the Wolverines, they are coming off another impressive win over the Neepawa Titans, beating them 6-1 on a Tuesday matinee game. Jaxon Grosdidier scored twice, to get up to five goals on the year.
The Wolverines are riding a hot penalty kill to start the season, with the team killing off all but one powerplay so far this season. Selkirk sits second in the league, killing off 90% of the powerplays they have seen so far.
This will be the Wolverines third last game before a week and a half long break in the schedule. Before they take that break, they will take on the Dauphin Kings twice on Sunday and Tuesday.
The Steelers and Wolverines will play four games this year, with a home and home planned in middle November.
