Wolverines sweep Blizzard after Sunday victory

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines swept the Blizzard in four games after a 6-4 win in The Pas.

The Blizzard were the first to score after Will Irvine had a weird bounce to go in past Tresor Wotton just over a minute into the game.

But the Wolverines were quick to tie it, when Luke Robson batted in a rebound to beat Nik Jerris.

Thirty-four seconds later, Jacob Charko beat Jerris with a wrist shot to put the Wolverines up 2-1 in the first three minutes of the game.

At the start of the second period, the Blizzard tied it up from a goal by Riley Zimmerman early on. They eventually took the lead thanks to a goal by Hunter Rambow.

Reagan Rabbit tied it up later in the period after a point shot that beat Jerris.

After a 5-minute major given to OCN’s Dain Sardelli, the Wolverines ended up scoring twice on the man adavantage.

Boston Bird scored on a 5-on-3 to put Waywayseecappo up by one.

Less than two minutes later, Caleb Petrie scored to put the Wolverines up two at the end of the second period.

In the third, there was no scoring until Will Irvine got one past Wotton at the 15:25 mark of the third period. That made a one-goal game late.

But Boston Bird scored an empty netter with less than a minute left to go to seal it for the Wolverines.

Tresor Wotton stopped 21 shots for the win, while Jerris made 32 saves in the loss.

The Wolverines are back in action on Friday night in Dauphin as they start a four-game series against the Dauphin Kings in a battle for first in the West Division.
