Wolverines start home stand against Flyers

The Wolverines will begin a stretch that has them playing seven home games in the next eight tonight as they take on the Winkler Flyers.

This game was supposed to take place on September 27th, but the game was postponed due to an ice plant malfunction.

The Wolverines are coming off a two game road trip, which they got a split, with a 7-4 win over the Selkirk Steelers, before losing 5-0 to the Steinbach Pistons.

The Flyers only played one game last weekend, beating the Niverville Nighthawks on Sunday 3-2 in overtime when Brody Beauchemin scored with only 35 seconds left in the extra frame.

The Flyers are coming into the game on a four game winning streak. They sit third in the East Division, four points back of Portage but only one point ahead of Selkirk.

The Wolverines are now six points back of Virden for the final playoff spot in the West Division, with three games in hand.

During this stretch of eight games for the Wolverines, they will be taking on the heavy hitters of the MJHL, playing Winkler twice, Portage three times, Dauphin, Northern Manitoba and Virden.

This will be the first of four games between the Wolverines and Flyers this season.
