Wolverines Sign Smooth Skating Defenceman

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are excited to announce that the hockey club has signed defenceman Reese Malkewichfor the 2020-2021 season.

Malkewich, 17, spent this past season with the CAC Canadians U18 AAA team, where he served as an assistant captain. In 32 games, Malkewich recorded 12 points ( 5 goals, 7 assists). He also suited up for one game in the AJHL, for the Lloydminster Bobcats, which should make his transition from U 18 to junior hockey a lot easier “playing in my first AJHL game was a great learning experience. The players in junior are a lot faster and make quicker decisions.”

The 6’foot, 160-pound defenceman from Edmonton is grateful for the opportunity the Wolverines have given him “I think this a great opportunity Taylor has given me, I want to make the most of it. I’m excited about the future.”

Malkewich, who was named the defenceman of the year for his U18 team this past season, said Wolverines fans should expect a strong two-way game out of him “I play a fast, two-way game, with a good first pass and active stick.”

The Wolverines would like to welcome Reese and his family into our organization.
