Wolverines shut out Titans

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines bounced back from a bad Friday loss to beat the Neepawa Titans 2-0 on Saturday night.

Tresor Wotton picked up his first MJHL shutout with the win, stopping all 23 shots. Emerik Demers continued his strong performance over the weekend, stopping 24 of 26 shots in the loss.

The Wolverines started the scoring in the first period after a great passing play that ended up on the stick of Josh Peppler as he was able to add his fifth of the season.

The second period provided no scoring, but there was a penalty shot opportunity for the Wolverines’ Adam Paplawski, but he missed it wide. It was the third penalty shot in two games between the two teams.

In the third, the Wolverines added an insurance marker after a turnover in the Titans zone, that led to a two on one for the Wolverines which ended up with Carson Baptiste getting his third of the season.

The defensive battle included both teams going a combined 0 for 9 on the powerplay during the game.

The two teams will play again next weekend, with the first game of the back to back in Neepawa on Friday at 7:30pm.
