Wolverines Set To Meet Oil Capitals In Virden

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines will look for a second straight win on Thursday night when they travel to Virden to play the Oil Capitals.

After suffering back-to-back losses, the Wolverines bounced back in a big way last Saturday, defeating the Steinbach Pistons in Waywayseecappo, 4-2. It was really a full team effort and a full sixty-minute effort that gave the Wolverines an edge over the Pistons in the win.

It will be the first meeting of the regular season between the Wolverines and Oil Capitals and if it’s anything like last season, it should set up for some exciting hockey.

Oil Capitals Outlook

Coming into Thursday nights matchup, the Oil Capitals will be hungry for a win after they fell 5-2 to the Selkirk Steelers earlier in the week on the road.

Virden has struggled on the penalty kill so far this season with a 68.9%, allowing 14 goals through ten games played.

While the Oil Capitals have scored the most goals in the league with 36, they have also given up the third most at 36 against.

Oil Capitals Forwards, Hunter Cloutier and Kolten Kasnaski have led the scoring parade for Virden, with Cloutier scoring six goals and seven assists. Kanaski has also been buzzing on the score sheet with seven goals and a trio of assists in his ten games.

News and Notes

Tyler Leibl and Jaymes Knee continue to stay hot offensively for the Wolverines. Leibl has scored four goals and two assists in his last five games while Knee has notched a pair of goals and added three assists over his last five.

After a four-game drought on the powerplay, the Wolverines have now scored a powerplay goal in three straight games.

Following tonight’s game, the Wolverines will get a day off before they will look for some revenge against the Winkler Flyers this Saturday night on home ice.
