Wolverines Set To Host Soaring Flyers

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines will start the month of December on home ice against the Winkler Flyers on Tuesday night with the club looking to get off to a good start after an average month of November.

During last month, the Wolverines stumbled going 5-6-0-1 including a 1-4-0-1 stretch to end the month with two one-goal losses to Portage and Steinbach.

The Wolverines kick off their last month of the year against the Winkler Flyers who have been one of the hottest teams in the MJHL throughout the first half of the regular season.

Head to Head

It has been well over a month since the Wolverines and Flyers met back on October 22nd. The Flyers were able to come back three separate times to tie the game and send it to the shootout where Justin Svenson beat Thomson Phinney to secure the 4-3 win for the Flyers.

There was only one prior meeting to the shootout loss that saw the Flyers pick up a 5-2 win over the Wolverines in Waywayseecappo during the first two weeks of the season.

Flyers Outlook

As previously mentioned, the Flyers enter Tuesday night as one of the hottest teams in the MJHL. With three full days off in between games, the Flyers should be well-rested and ready to take on the Wolverines.

Leading the charge for the Flyers is 19-year-old Defenseman, Drake Burgin, 18-year-old Forward, Jayden McCarthy and 19-year-old Sulivan Shortreed who all find themselves in the top 13 in MJHL scoring.

News and Notes

After two impressive outings against Virden and Steinbach, 17-year-old puck stopper, Liam Tereposky is expected to get the nod in net.

Wolverines Forward, Jaymes Knee is fresh off a solid month of November that saw the third-year forward score 4 goals and 10 assists in 11 games.

Acquired on Sunday afternoon, veteran Defenceman, Cody Thompson is set to make his Wolverines debut wearing number 77.

New Goaltender Ethan Lahmon isn’t expected to make his Wolverines debut until Friday night when the Wolverines host the Neepawa Natives.
