Wolverines receive first regulation loss

The Swan Valley Stampeders gave the Waywayseecappo Wolverines their first regulation loss of the season with a 3-2 win.

Loic Mainguy-Crepault stopped 32 shots in the win, to give the Stampeders a win in a tightly contested West Division.

In the first period, the only goal scorer was Adam Rajisgl who was able to blast it from the point past the goaltender to make it 1-0.

It didn’t take long in the 2nd period for the Stampeders to add on to their lead, when  Jakob Jones got his fifth goal of the season.

The Wolverines came roaring back though, just over a minute later on the powerplay, it was Cole Carlson who made it a one goal game with a shot from the slot.

Then with just over two minutes left in the period, Boone Mathison picked up a rebound from a shot from Lucas Eagle to make it a tied hockey game going into the third.

In the third period, halfway through, Noah Wilson was able to get a rebound off a wrap around to give the Stamps a 3-2 lead.

The Wolverines had a powerplay opportunity in the final minutes, but couldn’t capitalize.

Michael Bashaw had 16 saves in the loss.

The Wolverines next game is on Tuesday when they take on the Neepawa Titans at home at 12:30pm for a School Game.
