During the Season Opening weekend, four Waywayseecappo Wolverines players took to the ice with letters on their uniforms.
The coaching staff has named Logan Wotton as Captain for the upcoming season. Reagan Rabbit, Jacob Charko and Lonan Bulger were named as Assistant Captains.
Wotton, from Foxwarren, Manitoba, will be playing in his third and final season as a Wolverine. He was named as a supplemental leader for the team back in the 2020 season. He has played in 49 games in the MJHL, and has played nearly his entire career in the Yellowhead region, suiting up for the Yellowhead Chiefs during his Under-18 years.
Rabbit, from Red Deer, Alberta, was also named as a supplemental leader for the team in 2020. He is playing in his third and final season as a Wolverine as well, playing in 65 career MJHL games so far.
Jacob Charko, from Whitecourt, Alberta, is approaching his 50th game as a Wolverine as well, playing in his third and final year as well. Charko had 7 points in 10 games last season for Waywayseecappo in the shortened season.
Bulger, from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, is playing in his final season for the Wolverines. He will be playing in his 50th career MJHL game next game.
The team also announced supplemental leaders for this season. Although these players will not have an “A” on their jerseys, they are still highly respected within the Wolverines locker room.
The players are Boston Bird, Leyton Smith, Caleb Petrie, Troy Hamilton and Andrew Boucher.
Bird, part of the Mosquito First Nation in Saskatchewan, was recently trade to the Wolverines from the OCN Blizzard in the offseason and currently leads the team in scoring with three points.
Smith, from Edson, Alberta, is playing in his second season with the Wolverines.
Petrie, from Simcoe, Ontario, is coming to the Wolverines after playing two season with the Estevan Bruins.
Hamilton, from Brandon, Manitoba, is also playing for the Wolverines for the first time after two seasons in Estevan.
Boucher, from Morden, Manitoba, will be playing in his second season with the Wolverines after the shortened season last year.
