Wolverines, Kings face off in Battle for First

It might only be game 13 of the 2021-22 MJHL season, but for both the Waywayseecappo Wolverines and Dauphin Kings, no games will matter as much as they ones they are about to play against each other.

For the next two weekends, the two teams which are separated by two points for the battle for first place in the MJHL West Division, will play four games against each other.

The games could lead to some chaos at the top of the West Division leaderboard. With the right combination of results, both teams could finish the four games tied for first, but four Wolverines victories would put Wayway ten points ahead. Four Kings wins would put Dauphin six points ahead.

The Kings will have to find a way to stop the Wolverines offence, that has scored a league-leading 64 goals this season. Dauphin has only managed to let in 29 goals, which is third best in the league.

The league’s two top scoring defencemen will also face off. Dauphin’s Colby Jaquet leads D-men with 21 points, while Wayway’s Lonan Bulger is six behind with 15 points.
