The Waywayseecappo Wolverines host the Virden Oil Capitals on Tuesday night for the annual Teddy Bear Toss game, and also an important game in the West Division standings.
The two teams are separated by five points for the fourth and final playoff spot in the West Division. The Wolverines still have two games in hand, but they have lost their first two games against the Oil Capitals this year.
The Oil Capitals had won three games in a row, playing exclusively against Winnipeg teams. But last weekend they lost both games against the Dauphin Kings.
The Wolverines are coming off the same sort of trend, beating the top teams in the West for back to back games, Dauphin and Northern Manitoba. They then lost in overtime to the Winkler Flyers, but then lost two straight to the Portage Terriers.
This will be the first meeting of the year in Waywayseecappo. The two won’t meet again until late in January, before playing twice in February to end the season series.
