Before the Waywayseecappo Wolverines take a week and a half long break from playing any games, they will take on the Dauphin Kings in a home and home series in the next three days.
The Wolverines head to Dauphin for the first time this season to take on 5-2-0 Kings. Dauphin was expected to be one of the top teams in the MJHL this season, and has done a good job this year keeping teams off the scoreboard. Their only blemishes so far has been a loss to Winkler and Portage.
Last night, the Kings beat the Winnipeg Freeze 9-4, dominating them from start to finish, and also having a seven goal second period.
For the Wolverines, they are coming off a humbling 6-2 loss to the Selkirk Steelers. This came after an inspiring couple of weeks with wins in three of four games and a close loss to a top team in the league.
The Wolverines top penalty kill will get another challenge this afternoon, when they take on a powerplay that is scoring at a 26.9% clip. The Wolverines have only let in one powerplay goal this year, while being shorthanded 22 times.
Meanwhile their powerplay is on the other side of the spectrum, only scoring on 12.5% of their chances this year.
The Kings and Wolveirnes will meet six times this year, with two games this week, another twice before the Chirstmas Break, and then two more times in the final week of the season.
